dancing with dinosaurs.

i dance.
i dance quite a lot actually.
my life is sometimes consumed by it.. just a tiny bit.
one of the projects i have been involved in recently ended last week.
glyph.
glyph was a multimedia site specific piece done at the natural history museum in salt lake city.
if you have not been to this museum its a must see.
stunning really.
the project was organized and choreographed by one of my wonderful brilliant professors ellen bromberg.
we have been working on this collaborative process for four-ish months now.
fourteen dancers, one museum, and a whole lot of movement and space to explore.
 it was pretty neat.
nothing could have prepared me for  such a unique and intimate experience.
being in a space where people can just walk around and be so close to you while you are dancing, puts things on a whole new level!
plus being in an amazing space architecturally as well as dancing with dinosaurs sure was exciting.
the piece was created to be mostly improvised, and the surroundings, sound score, and projects lent to finding all sorts of inspiration.

here are a couple of snip-its of the work.
some guy filmed them on his i-phone.

im the one in the red... oh and with socks.
us juniors getting ready for the big performance.

to learn more about glyph read the article featured in the salt lake tribune. here.

i loved this performance opportunity.
i was so touched by this sweet older man who found me after the performance carrying around his news paper with the tribune article and asked for my autograph.(when i told zach the story he thought i said little boy... later when he found out it was an old guy he thought it was a bit creepy.. he really was a cute little old man though!)
things like that make the crazy long hours of rehearsal worth it.
it is a rewarding experience to discover that something you have created has made an impact, in someway, in another persons life.

i still cant believe that dinosaurs once were real!
crazyness! (or cray-cray as carly would say it) :)
that thought entered my head more than once while dancing... i probably should have been focusing on not kicking some nearby spectator in the head.
oh well.

presidents weekend. on the sunny side.

its pretty wonderful. my cute cousin jaesie is gonna be a mommy soon! she will be an adorable one. i am thrilled for her sweet little girl to be born. this weekend zach and i were able to escape to the warm town of st george, where there was an epic baby shower... im talking epic. my mom and grandma went all out.

grandma likes to decorate trees for every event. baby tree.

i made these for the shower, and for the babies nursery. there were a few times when they almost fell in the salad... close call.

mom to be!
Guess the candy bar game. preparing to be a mother.

this was not the only event of the trip worth talking about. zach the cutie that he is was determined to make slime with my little sisters. he was so excited about it that he even stopped on his way down at 1:45 in the morning to buy borax (special secret ingredient.)
baylie and brynlie were absolutely delighted. oddly enough they quite enjoy weird oozy things. after creating enough slime to last till our next visit, brynlie stated that she "couldn't live without slime." zach must have been inspired....
they were in heaven

slime plus baby shower plus warm weather and seeing the fam (minus dad he's in tokyo) equals pretty swell weekend i'd say. sure thankful for those presidents.

remembering not to forget

recently i have become afraid of forgetting my memories.
i am pretty alright at remembering the big things that happen, but its the little ones that seem to just slip away... i voice this fear to zachary quite a bit and (although i don't think this fear is eating away at him like it is me) he suggested i start a blog, which i have been talking about doing for some time now. somewhere i can keep track of all the tiny moments in our lives that are important. this is my attempt.

zach sat down with me on sunday and spent four hours being the patient and kind person that he is, pretty much creating this by himself. everyone knows that technology and i do not mix. he dealt with my frustration, and indecisiveness. afterwards i looked at him and said "you really do love me."
he does. not only did he spend his precious sunday making a blog for his wife. he also let me match him today for church. this happens frequently, and both of us are too stubborn to change. i think its kinda cute.
zach's foot cross? (not the best picture ever, but we were dealing with an almost dead camera.)
